Native Instruments has announced the release of NOIRE, a new Kontakt instrument that captures the signature piano sound of composer and pianist Nils Frahm.
The instrument – which includes both clean and felt versions of the Yamaha CFX 9 concert grand – was carefully selected from the rich Saal 3 environment at Berlin’s Funkhaus recording complex. The result is a unique, intense and memorable instrument with its own atmosphere. Two different sets of samples – clean and felt.

SIGNATURE SOUND

Experience the signature piano sound of composer and pianist Nils Frahm. This is the sound of a unique concert grand piano, selected by the artist, individually intonated and complemented by a felt damper. We captured the piano in its natural habitat – the environment of Saal 3 in Berlin’s famous Bauhaus-designed Funkhaus recording complex. The result is a unique, intense and memorable instrument with its own atmosphere.

CLEAN AND FELT

What sound do you need for your next production? You have two here to choose from.

• The clean version provides a clean, clear piano sound.

• The felt version is a completely separate piece – the same piano, but with a felt moderator between the hammers and strings, creating a gentle tone with reduced attack.

You can shape the sound of both by adjusting attack, release, resonance, overtones, velocity curve, temperament and more.

WHAT IS A PARTICLE ENGINE?
